About

The goal of VenusVision is to provide inspiration and information to women without the conflicting messages found in traditional media that encourages women to reject ourselves as we are, thriving on our insecurities.
More specifically, VenusVision was created to:

Promote self acceptance among women.

Every day, everywhere we look, we are exposed to images, ideas, advertisements, subliminal messages, overt messages … anything and everything to convince us we need to be something different than what we are. Sure, most of it is under the guise of self improvement. But that assumes that being thin, having clear skin, looking younger, being rich, hosting the best birthday parties for our kids is what will make us better, more fulfilled people.

Help you love the person you already are, accept your faults and acknowledge your achievements.
I believe that inherent in achieving goals is the belief that we CAN do it, and that comes from feeling confident in who we are before trying to evolve into something better.

Share real beauty and real accomplishments among real women.

Not what we see on magazine covers or the Hollywood red carpet. At its core, VenusVision is about loving yourself. On the surface, VenusVision may look like any other women’s web site. We feature stories about fitness, nutrition, parenting, careers … anything relevant to, well …. living really. The difference comes from the way in which the material is presented and the assumptions that are made about you as a reader. The articles featured here will not assume that you will be more beautiful if you lose 10 pounds. It does not assume that becoming a supermom is what will fulfill you. It does not assume that being a sex goddess in bed will save your relationship. But VenusVision also does not dismiss the importance of things like healthier living, positive parenting and the benefits of a healthy sex life. It’s all about balance, and that’s what VenusVision strives for … helping you create balance in your inner being and in your every day life.

About the owner of VenusVision
michelle-cantrell-head-shot-2 In addition to managing VenusVision, Michelle Cantrell is a full-time mother of two young daughters. Having struggled through much of her life with body image and self-esteem issues, she was determined not to pass on the same insecurities to her children, placing emphasis on qualities such as intelligence, compassion, curiosity, and creativity while also reminding them they are beautiful because of who they are on the inside. But she soon realized that those messages would be undermined by the barrage of images in the media and other external forces that know nothing different than the external, superficial, stereo-typical ideas of beauty. That is when she decided to combine her love for writing with a mission to redefine beauty, and create a web site that can be a resource to women without making them feel less than they are.

When Michelle is not working on VenusVision, she enjoys spending time with her family, being active, traveling, and devouring good food, wine, and books.
